The Kinloch Golf Course, Lake Taupo, New Zealand
Jack Nicklaus’ first Signature course in New Zealand, The Kinloch Club, has added another must visit golf course to the New Zealand landscape. Kinloch immediately made an impact on the International scene by being rated by Travel and Leisure Golf Magazine as the best new course in 2007 outside North America. The course takes advantage of the natural terrain created by the supervolcanic Taupo eruption of 26,000 years ago, which deposited massiveamounts of pumice across a wide area. This allowed Nicklaus to build a course with Scottish links characteristics creating remarkable undulating fairways and greens. This combination comes together in beautiful surroundings producing one of Jack Nicklaus’ proudest Signature Course. Kinloch is situated in the centre of The North Island of New Zealand, 3 hours drive south from Auckland and 4 hours drive from Wellington. The village itself is nestled on the Northern Shore of Lake Taupo, only 15 minutes drive from Taupo town and 50 minutes from Rotorua.
Wairakei International
This former Golf Digest ranked golf course is one of New Zealand’s most
established and favourite for many local golfers. The par 72 layout is set
in 450 acres of gently rolling countryside. Its parkland characteristics feature
108 large bunkers, magnificent tree-lined fairways and large plateau greens,
all bordered by dense pine forest. In 2010 a plan to create a wildlife sanctuary
was completed, including the erection of a 2 metre high electrical rodent proof
fence which surrounds the whole property. Kiwi have been released along with
a number of exotic native birds. A new professional shop and driving range
have also been completed in late 2010, bringing Wairakei International right
back up to one of the very best golfing facilities in the country.
Wairakei International is located just north of the town of Taupo, a
3 hour drive from Auckland, 4 hours from Wellington and only 45 minutes from
Rotorua. Rotorua offers International flight connections through Sydney, making
the region an excellent entry point for a short break golf trip.
Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club
Considered the country's premier links course by many, Paraparaumu Beach was designed in 1949 by Australian Open champion Alex Russell, partner of the highly acclaimed course architect Dr Alistair McKenzie. The home course of Tiger Woods’s caddie, Steve Williams, it has played host to the New Zealand Open championship on 12 occasions, with Tiger Woods himself playing in the 2002 event. Laid out over naturally rolling topography, the well drained fairways, fierce rough and intimidating bunkers of this 5,919 metre par 71 course combine with coastal winds to create a truly challenging golfing experience. Paraparaumu Beach is located 45 minutes drive north of Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. Direct flights from Auckland commence in October 2011 to Paraparaumu Beach airport, which is only a stones throw from the golf course.

Wairakei International is New Zealand's most established international golf course. A classic parkland layout and always exceptionally maintained, Wairakei offers all levels of golfer a truly enjoyable experience. Cape Kidnappers is ranked in the Top 50 of the world by Golf Magazine, making it a truly exceptional golfing experience. Jacks Point Golf Course
Jacks Point is an extraodinary golf course that has well and truly put Queenstown on the golfing map. Jacks adds to the region alongside the already established courses of Millbrook, Kelvin Heights, Arrowtown and the exclusive Hills golf course. Steve Williams recently stated, 'It's obviously a great piece of property but that doesn't always mean a good course. But this is well thought out and a real asset for New Zealand golf. The golf course itself has a backdrop of 2300 vertical metres of the 'razorback' - famously known as the Remarkables mountain range. This makes the course one of the most dramatic in the world, yet along with that comes a course which is of championship standard, offering a challenging and unforgettable experience. Jacks Point is located by a 15 minute drive from the centre of Queenstown. Queenstown is accesible via direct flights from all major centres of New Zealand, as well as direct flights from Australia.
